Margate Hits High Note with New Volunteer Community Band

Margate Lincoln has wonderful news for music enthusiasts in the Margate, Florida area! Brian Donahue, a resident of Margate, has recently founded the town’s new volunteer band that is sure to add some fun and merriness in lives of Margate residents. The idea of developing a community volunteer band struck Donahue when the city had its Fourth of July parade with no musicians.

Donahue said, “Everybody who has looked at [the program] and thought about it has thought it was just a great idea. It's about time the city had music. For one, they don't have any music anywhere. We just had a Fourth of July parade with no musicians. But it's going to grow. The idea worked. People got together and are now telling their friends about it.”

“This is a pilot program. Throughout Margate, there are volunteer programs all over the place, but the city of Margate itself doesn't have one,” Donahue said. “So that's when I said I'd like to start a volunteer program and use myself as a guinea pig so that we can iron out all the little things that we have to do.”

Assistant City Manager Yolanda Rodriguez is equally enthusiastic about the new band. “I absolutely think it's good for the community,” Rodriguez said. “… Any of our patriotic events, we hope to have local talent, something we can all applaud, and I think this could be it.”

If we start to bring people together, we start rebuilding a community, and that's the goal,” Donahue said. “I think in any volunteer program, anything that gets people together is good. I think it makes sense to start with something fun first like music. It's one of the languages where there is no generational gap.”

Jocelyn Popick, an eighth grader, has recently joined the group as the band’s flute player. “Band is great. I'm really enjoying it so far,” Popick said. “I've met a lot of new people and my favorite part so far is Brian [Donahue] letting me play a song by my idol, Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull.”

LINCOLN Scores Highest in Annual J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study

Margate Lincoln, one of the leading LINCOLN car dealers in Margate, FL, proudly announces that Lincoln received the highest score for long-term durability among all vehicle brands in the annual J.D. Power and Associates’ 2011 Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). Lincoln now leads the industry with the most reliable vehicles.

In the J.D. Power study, owners were asked to show problems with their three-year-old vehicles in the past 12 months, choosing from a list of more than 200 issues in eight diverse categories. The J.D. Power study also shows a correlation between vehicle reliability and purchase with almost 63 percent of new vehicle buyers indicating that a vehicle’s reliability and durability are leading factors when choosing a new vehicle.

According to David Sargent, vice president of global vehicle research at J.D. Power, attributed Lincoln’s jump from second place in last year’s study to “a lot of years of improvement. They have been working on this for 10 years.” Lincoln's LINCOLN MKX, LINCOLN MKZ (the second-highest performing model in the study) and the LINCOLN Navigator, all performed well, he commented. Scott Tobin, director of Lincoln Product Development, was ecstatic with this achievement and said it was another great testament to Lincoln.
